POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
COMMUNICATION
Good communication between
home and school is essential for a successful school
year. Here are some of the ways we can keep in touch
this year.
Each day your child will
bring home a folder. On the left side of the folder
will be notes from the school for you to read, and a
communication page for us to write quick notes to each
other. If your child has a dentist's appointment or
you have a simple question about something, this is
a great way to communicate with me. If you would like
me to call you, this is also a good way to get the message
to me as I will check the folders every day. On the
right side of the folder will be work your child has
completed at school that can now be kept at home. Looking
through the papers together with your child is a great
way to start a conversation about what he or she has
been learning at school.
If you would like to talk
with me by phone, the best times to reach me are after
3:15PM or at home in the evenings. My home phone number
is in the directory and at the top of every newsletter.
A class newsletter will be
sent home on Mondays. I will try to keep them brief,
but I do put important information in the newsletters
so please take a look at them. Newsletters will also
be posted on this web site.
There are two scheduled conferences
during the school year. If you have any concerns about
how your child is progressing however, don't feel you
have to wait for the official conference. Let me know
and we can arrange a time to meet together.
BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
At the beginning of the year
the children and I will work together to create a document
entitled, "Our Promise to Each Other." It will include
a list of the class rules the children have agreed to
abide by. I will post the final version here as soon
as it is written.
Please refer to the TVJA
Student Handbook for a comprehensive list of school
wide policies and procedures.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL
Our classroom door will open
at 8:15 and class will begin at 8:30.
Each morning your child is
responsible for getting ready for the day at school.
Here is the routine I teach the children.
-Come into the classroom
quietly
-Put your coats, backpack, and lunch in your cubby
-Put your Take-Home Folder in the folder cubby
-Choose your reading books for the day and put them
in your reading box
-Choose a morning activity to work on quietly at your
seat.
Parents can help their children develop independence
and responsibility by saying goodbye to their children
before they enter the classroom.
DISMISSAL
At the end of the day, the
children will be responsible or putting their papers
into their folders and gathering all of their belongings
to take home.
Children may be picked up
in the front of the building at 3:00. Children not picked
up by 3:15 will be taken to B.A.S.E., our after school
care program.
Please make sure your child
has checked out with the teacher on duty before going
home.
Also, please send a note
or call the school if your child is going home with
someone other than a parent.
