School Board Committee

Admissions Committee

Role

The TVJA admissions committee acts on applications for admission to the school and at the direction of the school board.

Members

The admissions committee is composed of one board member from each of the school's constituent churches, the board chair, the principal, and three members of the faculty, representing the primary, intermediate, and junior high grades.

Personnel Committee

Role

The TVJA personnel committee is responsible for:

  • Working with the Education Department of the Oregon Conference in selecting certificated staff for recommending to the TVJA board for approval; and
  • Recommending the employment of classified staff to the TVJA board.

Members

The personnel committee is composed of one board member from each of the school's constituent churches, the board chair, the principal, and the Vice-President of Education for the Oregon Conference of SDAs.

Building Committee

Role

The TVJA building committee is responsible for:

  • Providing for inspection and sessment of the school's physical plant;
  • Recommending to the board regarding maintenance and capital improvements; and
  • Working in cooperation with the master plan committee in planning for long-range capital improvements and expansion.

Members

The building committee is composed of one board member and one lay member from each of the school's constituent churches, the board chair, the principal, the school treasurer, and the school custodian.

Finance Committee

Role

The TVJA finance committee is responsible for:

  • Preparing the school budget for consideration by the board;
  • Managing the financial investments of the school;
  • Providing a subcommittee that regularly reviews the school's accounts receivable; and
  • Working with the master plan committee in long-range planning

Members

The finance committee is composed of one board member and one lay member from each of the school's constituent churches, the board chair, the principal, and the school treasurer. The finance committee typically meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm. Some months the finance committee postpones its meetings until later in the week to allow for bank statements to arrive and reports to be prepared.

Master Plan Committee

Role

The TVJA master plan committee is responsible for long-range planning of the educational, financial, and capital activities of the school.

Members

The master plan committee is composed of the chair of the board, the principal of the school, the chairs of the building and finance committees, the custodian of the school, and three members of the faculty, representing the primary, intermediate, and junior high grades.
